Blason de Guyancourt

Official blazon

Écartelé: au 1er d'azur à la fleur de lis d'or, au 2e de gueules à six annelets d'or, au 3e d'argent au castor contourné au naturel, au 4e d'or à trois cerises de gueules tigées et feuillées de sinople.

Origin/meaning

The fleur-de-lys is taken from the royal arms and indicate that the area was a royal estate. The second quarter is taken from the arms of the former Lords of Guyancourt. The beaver is a symbol for La Bièvre in the municipality, and the cherries refer to a song by Jean Baptiste Clément.
