D'azur à la barque d'or voguant sur une mer d'argent, portant un saint-Nicolas de carnation, vêtu d'argent et d'or, crossé et mitré du même, et bénissant de la dextre, trois enfants de carnation le regardant à ses pieds.
Origin/meaning
The arms are based on the old city seal, known from the 13th century (see below) and show the local patron saint, St. Nicholas in a ship. The ship indicates the importance of the harbour.
