- (fi) Kultakentässä kyljellään musta tervatynnyri, jonka tapinreiästä ja pohjista lyövät punaiset tulenlieskat.
- (sv) I fält av guld en liggande svart tjärtunna med röda eldflammor ur sprundet och båda bottnarna.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on December 17, 1956.
The arms are based on a seal from 1620 and show tar burning. The tar industry and trading used to be very important for the town.
In the middle of the 19th century B. Kene added in a proposal the provincial arms in the upper right corner, see below. These were never officially granted.
