Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted in 2022.
The arms are partly canting. The growth of the area began with a gravel road, which is displayed as a pale. The black shield symbolizes the rich soil. The flying birds represent elements of art deco artist Jonas Prapuoleni's work, and also refer to the consonants with carons (diacritic mark reminding flying bird) in the name Žvirgždaičiai. Flying birds are also associated with aviation, and more precisely with the famous pilots born in Žvirgždaičiai – brother and sister Jonas and Antanina Liorentas. Jonas Liorentas participated in the battles of the War of Independence against the Soviet Russian army (1919–1920), and from 1926 served in the Lithuanian Air Force. In 1934, he flew around Europe in ANBO IV planes and 12 countries were visited. John's sister – Antanina Liorentaitė – received a civil pilot's license in 1933 and was the first female pilot in Lithuania, and in 1938 became the first female paratrooper in the country.
