Origin/meaning

The first quarter shows the arms of Cluny, as the local priory of Ternay was ruled by the monks of Cluny. The second and third quarter show the heraldic dolphin of the Dauphiné region, to which the area belonged from 1343-1967 and the lion of the Lyonnais, to which the village belongs since 1968. The fourth quarter shows the arms of the Kingdom of Savoy, as on August 13, 1253 Amédee de Mirabel, Prior of Ternay, signed a treaty with Philipp of Savoy, as Lord of Saint Symphorien d´Ozon, to be the lord of the village.
