WILRIJK
Official blazon
- (1819) Van lazuur beladen met St. Bavon van goud.
- (1840) In een blaeuw veld met het gulden beeld van Sint-Baefs.
Origin/meaning
The arms were first granted on October 6, 1819 and again on July 20, 1840.
The arms show the local patron saint, Saint Bavo, and are based on the old seals of the council. Both blazons do not mention the small church beside the saint.
The colours are the Dutch national colours, as in1813 the mayor applied without indicating the colours. The arms were thus granted in the national colours. When the arms were confirmed after the Belgian independence, the colours were not changed.
