Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
MAINASCHAFF
State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Aschaffenburg
Official blazon
Ein silberner Wellengöpel; vorne fünfmal geteilt von Gold und Rot, hinten in Rot ein halbes, stehendes silbernes Rad, im Schildfuß Blau.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on August 20, 1968.
The two wavy bars symbolise the Main and Aschaff rivers and are thus canting for the municipality. The bars are taken from the arms of the Counts of Rieneck, to whom historically part of the municipality belonged. The wheel is taken from the arms of the State of Mainz, as the area belonged to the State of Mainz until 1803. The blue colour in the base is the colour of Bayern.
