Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on December 3, 1817, confirmed on April 13, 1838 and again granted on April 1, 1985.
The arms are identical to the arms of the Van Hoobrouck family, Lords of Zingem and Asper from 1669 until 1789. The arms also appear on the seal of the local council, dating from the 18th century. On the seal the arms are shown with a baronal crown, as the Van Hoobrouck family at the time were Barons of Asper. The crown was removed when the municipality was granted arms in 1817.
The arms were confirmed in 1838 after the Belgian independence and granted after the merger with the two other municipalities.
