TRANSNISTRIA
Official status in Moldova : Transnistria autonomous territorial unit
De-facto an unrecognised state with the name Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted on July 25, 2000.
The State Emblem of the Pridnestrovskaia Moldavskaia Respublika is an image of a crossed hammer and sickle symbolizing the unity of workers and peasants, in the rays of the sun rising above the Dniester, framed with a garland of ears and ears of corn, fruits, grape bunches and vines, leaves interwoven with a red ribbon with inscriptions on the sling in three languages:
on the right side - the "Pridnestrovskaia Moldavskaia Respublika",
on the left side - "Pridnistrovska Moldavska Respublika",
on the middle part - "Republika Mol Dovenyasca Nistreane. "
In the upper part between the converging ends of the garland is a five-pointed red star with golden bordure.
For smaller versions of the arms, the texts can be abbreviated:
The arms were based on the arms of the former Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic, with the addition of a blue wavy bar for the Dniester and with the new name of the Republic.
The PMR was established in 1991 and has been using the state symbol since, with small differences. The current versions were adopted in 2000.
On October 8, 2012 a contest was organized for the best project for a new emblem and flag of Transnistria. The contest received more than 500 proposals and some final proposals were selected. However, no decision on changing the symbols of the republic at the official level was made. Some proposals are shown below:
