FREDERIK VAN SIERCK Also : Zierik, Zyrik
Born: ?
Deceased: July 20, 1322
Bishop of Utrecht, 1317-1322
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The bishop was the first to use the diocesan arms (silver cross on red) with his personal arms as an inescutcheon. The Counts of Sierck were a family from present day Lorrainie in France. The arms are still used by the municipality Sierck-les-Bains.
Another member of the family, Jakob von Sierck was Archbishop of Trier and used the same arms. His predecessor as Bishop of Utrecht, Jan van Sierck (1291-1297) did not use arms in Utrecht.
