Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 20, 1977.

The chalice and snake refer to St. Benedictus, the local patron saint. It also refers to the Benedictan Convent in Kremsmünster, to which the local church historically belonged.

The spiked mace (or Morgenstern, Morning star) refers to Georg Tasch, one of the leaders of the farmer's revolt in 1596. The mace was a popular weapon among the farmers.

The chief refers to Austria.
