Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms have been officially granted on 24th May 1984.
The arms show the castle of Orís, on a hill, and the shell taken from the arms of the Orís family, lords of the castle (the full arms are shown on the flag above the castle). The colours, Gules, Sable, Argent and Or, are the ones of these arms, too. The Orís family became barons of the village in 1396, and marquises in 1711, under Carles d'Orís i de Vallgornera; this is shown by the marquis crown at the top of the arms.
