Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on February 24, 1995.
The arms are based on the only known seal of the village, dating from 1787. The colours were added in 1995.
The meaning of the pipe-smoking man is not known. Speculations have been that it is a bee-keeper, a gnome, or just simply a man enjoying himself. In any case, it is not connected to the main activities in the village in the 18th century, which were agriculture, fruit growing, carting and trading in grain.
