Origin/meaning

The Eagle are taken from the Coat of Arms of Bjarne Erlingsson of the Bjarkøy Family, a local lord in 1287. The Colours White and Black are taken from the Colour of the Hordaland Infantry Regiment No 9. The District and Regiment are now disbanded.
