Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 11, 1952.

The arms show a squirrel holding a black pine cone. The cone is a canting element for the Swedish name of the town (Grankotte for Grankulla). The squirrel is a common animal in the area. The roses in chief refer to the large gardens of the villas and large houses in the municipality.
