SAINT-GINGOLPH (HAUTE-SAVOIE)

Département : Haute-Savoie

Blason de Saint-Gingolph (Haute-Savoie)

Official blason

Tranché denché d'argent et d'azur, à la loutre rampante de sable, armée de gueules, brochant sur le tout et accompagnée en chef senestre d'une étoile à six rais d'azur.

Origin/meaning

The otter is taken from a legend, in which an otter entered the local castle by the stairs. This is also symbolised by the division line.

The division line also refers to the border, which runs through the village. In the French part the colours of the field and star are blue, on the Swiss part, they are red.
