RAPPERSWIL
Canton : Sankt Gallen
Incorporated into : 2007 Rapperswil-Jona
Official blazon
In Silber zwei goldbesamte rote Rosen an roten Stielen, zwei zu eins gegengeastet.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted in July 1918.
The two roses already appear as city arms on the oldest known seal of the city, from 1306. On the old seal the crest of the Counts of Rapperswil can be seen in base. In later seals and arms the crest disappeared. All later images show the roses, but the colour of the stems has varied in time.
