The windmill refers to the tower windmill of the Rüscheid miller Friedrich Haag, which he had built in 1880-82 at the southern end of the village, to use the wind that often blows on the ridge to drive the mill, but with little success because of the unfavorable location. The mill was demolished in 1930. The windmill also symbolizes the cultivation of grain in the wide fields.
