Distinctive Unit Insignia, Description: A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall blazoned: Quarterly, Azure and Gray, a spear palewise issuant from base Argent surmounted by a fer de moline Or voided Gules. Attached below the shield a Gold scroll inscribed "SUPPORT IS SURVIVAL" in Black.
Origin/meaning
Blue and Grey refer to the heritage of Virginia. The Quartered field alludes to the four major areas of service provided by The Battalion: Administration, Medical, Supply and Transport, and Maintenance. The Fer de Moline symbolises Support.
The Coast of Arms and Distinctive Unit Insignia was both approved on 22 October 1992.
