CARME
Region : Catalonia
Province : Barcelona
Catalan | Escut caironat: d'argent, una gaia curvilínia i alçada de sinople a la punta, i 4 estrelles de l'un a l'altre posades 1,2,1. Per timbre una corona mural de poble. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on May 9, 2001.
The arms are canting: they are derived from the ones of the Carmelite order (in Catalan, "el Carme"). In fact, this village has nothing to do with that order, and the name Carme is said to be derived from the Arabic QASMA, a smallholding.
