The arms were granted on July 12, 1996.
This is a new municipality, created in 1991. Gimenells is represented here by its castle and a rose, taken from the arms of the Desvalls family, the landlords of the village. The two heraldic fountains around the castle are the canting emblem of El Pla de la Font.
