HOSTALRIC
Region : Catalonia
Province : Girona
Catalan | Escut caironat: de gules, un castell d'or obert sobremuntat d'una estrella d'or. Per timbre una corona de vescomte. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
These arms were officially granted on 7th June 1989.
Hostalric is a picturesque little town that keeps in large measure the fortified enclosure, with walls and towers. The arms show traditionally (at least from 1590 to 1800) a star and the local castle, placed on a hill, built in the 14th century by Bernat de Cabrera, that became the centre of the viscounty of Cabrera. At the top of the arms we can see also the viscount's crown.
