Origin/meaning

The oldest seal of the village dates from the late 18th century. It showed a shield with a bunch of grapes. The grapes indicate the importance of viticulture for the village. Several later seals until 1957 all showed the grapes, but mostly without a shield. The State Archives proposed in 1907 to put the grapes in proper colours on a silver shield. The council officially adopted this proposal, but the arms were never used. The above arms were adopted in 1959.
