History: First foremd in 1944 at Naval Air Station Brunswick, Maine, USA as a Vought Corsair Fighter Squadron. Disbanded in 1946.

Origin/meaning
Scimitars was used by Corsairs and allude to the Arcraft used by the Squadron. The Badge was approved in 1946.
