Origin/meaning
The arms were officially registered in 1972.
The arms were designed after the merger of three different municipalities. The name of one of these, Tune, can be translated as garden or fence. The arms thus show a kind of fence, symbolising a central municipality and two others that have joined the first. Hence symbolising the three former municipalities.
The design was also based on the symbol of the so-called Hedebo-show, also known as the white-show (hvidsyning), a show held in the early 20th century. This symbol was a typical symbol for the area.
The white colour is taken from the show, and the blue stands for the Køge Bugt bay, on which the municipality is situated.
