US ARMY DENTAL ACTIVITY FORT ORD

Distinctive Unit Insignia. Description: A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/16 inches (2.70cm) in height overall consisting of a white disc bearing a maroon quatrefoil throughout, and thereon, vertically a sword with point up entwined by two winged serpents heraldically respecting one another all gold and enclosed by a red enamel scroll ending in base and bearing the inscription "ETHICS PRIDE SERVICE" in gold letters.
Origin/meaning
Maroon and white (silver) are the colors used for the Army Medical Department. Gold and silver (white) are the two precious metals closely associated with the dental profession. The sword and winged serpents simulate the caduceus and refer to the study and science of healing. The sword denotes military preparedness. All of the above represent the unit's overall mission and capabilities.
The Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 25 November 1980.
