Origin/meaning

The arms were officially registered in 1973.

The arms show a buck, which is taken from the arms of the Basse family, which owned the Tjele estate in medieval times. The small tool is an eel-iron, a tool used for catching eels, a common practice in the lakes and rivers in the area.
