Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1779. In upper part of the shield the image of St. Theresa of Avila is represented in the left half. The right half shows in the sun the image of Maria Theresa, the old name of the city is Maria-Theresiopolis. The usage of this armorial achievement was re-introduced in 1997, after being abolished for many decades.
