Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on December 18, 1959.

The blue cross on silver is taken from the Finnish flag, as many of the settlers originally came from Finland. The small symbols are forestry marks and indicate the importance of forestry for the region. The arms thus are canting, Finnskog means 'wood of the Finns'.
