3rd Personnel Group, US Army
3RD PERSONNEL GROUP, US ARMY
Official blazon
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, consisting of a dark blue star superimposed by three radiating silver quills with points crossed at center; overall a red annulet inscribed “SERVING” at left, “CARING” at top and “LEADING” at right, in silver letters
Origin/meaning
Dark blue and scarlet are the colors traditionally associated with personnel units. The configuration of the three quills is reminiscent of the insignia of the III Corps, which the unit supports. The star symbolizes excellence and achievement; the points on the star allude to the unit’s five World War II campaigns. The annulet is a circle implying unity.
The Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 16 September 1990.
