History: First formed in 1943 at Royal Naval Air Station Eglinton (HMS Gannet), Northern Ireland, as a Fleet Fighter Squadron for HMS Indomitable with Grumman Hellcats. The Squadron served in Ceylon and disbanded in the Far East in 1945.

Origin/meaning

The Tiger symbolises service in the Far East. The Badge was approved in 1945.
