State : Burgenland
District : Mattersburg
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on ??
The arms of Pöttsching show a (fructed) twig of cherry; a church; and a musical key. The cherries illustrate the following: Burgenland is a fertile country in a sunny climate, but the population always was poor. Fruit-picking was important because it meant extra money for the small farms. The church is the oldest building of Poettsching. It has a long history. Brass bands are a typical element of local culture. Even in small communities, there are often two or three bands, which is symbolised by the key. The colours of the arms are those of the State flag.
