Origin/meaning

The arms of Rudolfsheim combine the symbols of the seals of the three former parishes, as well as a letter R. Rustendorf is symbolised by a silver half moon in blue. The name derives from the Middle German word "Rust" for elm tree and refers to the elm woods in the area. A vineyard "unter den Rusten" ("under the elms") is documented in 1700. Reindorf is represented by the golden grape referring to the wine grown in the area. The area "in der Rein" ("in the hollow") is documented in 1344; after 1360 it is referred to as "Reintal" ("Hollow Valley") and finally "Reindorff" in 1411. Braunhirschen ("Brown Deer") shows a canting brown deer, derived from an inn in the area mentioned in 1754.
