Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on February 2, 1928.
The part in the centre is an image of the scene, in which Alonso Fernández de Lugo, commander in chief of the Castilian troops, is sealing a "peace without bloodshed" with Añaterve, the Guanches chief of Güímar. So the incorporation of Tenerife Island into the Castilian monarchy became easier. Also the other parts are referring to this act, the left chief shows the coat of arms of Castilia and Leon, the dexter base is symbolizing the isle of Tenerife.
The coulters upon the bordure are symbolizing agriculture, the golden colour is a symbol of riches.
