SCHARDENBERG

State : Oberösterreich
District : Schärding

Arms of Schardenberg

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 19, 1990.

The combination of cross and fleur-de-lys symbolises the local patron saint, St. Mary of Fatima. The staff in the bend refers to St. Severin who, according to legend, preached in the area in the 5th century and introduced Christianity in the area.

The mountain in the base is a canting element (Berg=mountain), whereas the plough refers to the agricultural character of the municipality.
