WATTENBERG

State : Tirol
District : Innsbruck-Land

Wattenberg.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The arms were officially granted on September 12, 1978.

The arms show a school teacher. Already in 1524 a school and teacher are mentioned for the village, and it is thus the oldest known reference for a village school in Tirol. The school had pupils from both sides of the valley, which is symbolised by the two hills in the arms.

Literature : Köfler and Beimrohr, 1995
