Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted January 30,l 1948 and new arms in 1974.
The previous arms:
The arms show a Staff of Mercury for the importance as a trading centre, and the winged wheels for the railroads.
The wheel is taken from the older arms of Ånge town (see above). The wheel indicates that the town is a railway junction.
