Official blazon

Escudo de prata, com um barco antigo de negro, realçado de ouro, mastreado e encordoado de negro, vestido de uma vela de púrpura, vogando num mar de seis faixas ondada de, três de verde e três de prata. Em chefe três vieiras de púrpura, realçadas de ouro. Coroa mural de cinco torres de prata. Listel branco com a legenda de negro " CIDADE DE ÍLHAVO ".

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 20, 1990.

The previous arms were identical, except for the crown, and were granted on December 14, 1935:
