History: Raised in 1715 as Bowles' Dragoons, become in 1817 12th (The Prince of Wales's) Royal Lancers. In 1960 amalgamated with the,9th Queen's Royal Lancers, British Army to form the 9th-12th Royal Lancers (Prince of Wales's), British Army

Origin/meaning

The Crown with the Plumes and motto Ich dien is the Badge of the Prince of Wales. The Lances indicates the Regiment as a Lancer Unit. The Roman Numeral XII (12) indicate the Number of the Regiment.
