Origin/meaning
The Insignia shows two D:s indicating Dixie Division. The Division was organised in 1917 with National Guard Units from Alabama, Florida, and Georgia all Southern State hence the Dixie designation. After Service in France it was demobilised in 1919 and refromed in 1923 with National Guard Units from Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Reorganised after participation in World War II with Alabama and Mississippi Units. In 1968 the Division was disbanded and its Units integrated into the 30th Armored Division.
