Shield: Or, issuant from an Aladdin's Lamp in base clouds forming a genie with clenched dexter hand Azure, in sinister chief a mullet Gules.
Crest: None.
Motto: We cover.

Distinctive Unit Insignia, Description: A Gold metal and enamel device 1 1/8 icnhes (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Or, issuant from an aladdin's Lamp in base clouds forming a genie with clenched dexter hand Azure, in sinister chief a mullet Gules. Attached below the shield aBlue scroll inscribed "WE COVER" in Gold letters.

Origin/meaning

Cobalt Blue and Golden Yellow are the Colour of the Chemical Warfare Service. The Story of the Genie and Aladdin's Lamp is symbolis of the functions of the organization, in that the former could fulfill any whish desired when requested of the Magical Lamp. The Motto alludes both to the "modus operandi" and the spirit of the personnel of the organization on the fulfillment of their allotted tasks.

The Coat of Arms and Distinctive Unit Insignia, was orignially approved for the 3rd Separated Chemical Battalion on 22 September 1942. They was redesignated for the 3rd Chemical Mortar Battalion on 11 January 1951.
