48TH INFANTRY BRIGADE, GEORGIA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD
Official blazon
Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a light blue shield, rounded in base 3 1/2 inches (8.89cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35cm) in width overall, two right oblique bars throughout; the upper blue and the lower scarlet, both edged white and surmounted overall by a left oblique yellow lightning bolt all within a 1/8 inch (.32cm) white border.
Origin/meaning
Light blue is for Infantry, representing the basic structure of the Brigade. Scarlet, white and blue are the color in the State Flag of Georgia; the armor yellow and artillery scarlet are representative of total strength through the added support of armor and artillery. The lightning bolt characterizes the mobility and effectiveness of the combined forces.
