Distinctive Unit Insignia, Description: A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2,86 cm) in height, consiting of a of a shield blazoned: Argent , issuant from base a demi-sphere Azure gridlined of the first, debruised by a pile twice bevilled Tenné, overall a plestar of the first superimposed by a fleur-de-lis of the second. Attached bleow the shield ,a Black bipartite scroll doubled and inscribed "VOICE OF" and "THE ARCTIC" in Silver.
Origin/meaning
Orange and White are the colours of the Signal Corps. The Pile indicative of a lightning bolt symbolises communications and electronics. The Polestar is symbolic of the North Star indicative of the Artic location of the Battalion. The Fleur-de-lis commemorates the Battalion's Baptism of Fire in France. The Five lightnings in the crest symbolises the Battalion's World War II Campaigns. The Lion a symbol of stranght and courage, reflects the European Theather of Operations and the Unit's World War II location and heritage.
The Coat of Arms and distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 15 October 1992.
