AJDOVŠČINA

Arms of Ajdovščina

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted on November 20, 1990.

The symbol shows three green waves topped with a embattled wall. The emblem represents the "cold river" Hubelj flowing under the remains of the Roman fortress. The seven-towered Roman fort named by them Castrum ad Fluvium Frigidum (i.e. Castle at the Cold River) is still remaining in the centre of the town.
