Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 28, 1962. The arms are based on the Parish Seal from the 18th Century. The Tree alludes to the Al-part of the Name and the brodure indicates the ö (= Island) part of the Name. The arms was desigened by the City Architect Hans Schylter, Sundsvall.
