Official blazon
English Gules, a dove argent holding a leaf in its beak or, in chief a pine cone between two hearts of the third, the cone bearing a tassel vert, in base a fleur-de-lis also of the third. Motto: Life In All Its Fullness.

Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the baptismal names of the bishop. Amédée is derived from the latin "Amat Deus" (God loves him). This is represented by the two golden hearts.

Wilfrid is a name that dates back to the fifth century. The first part "wil" means "will", and the second part "frith" means "peace'". Hence, the Dove of Peace on the arms, signifying also that Bishop Proulx was elected and ordained to the office of Bishop in this Holy Year of Reconciliation.

The white pine cone and tassel is the official flower of the State of Maine to denote that Bishop Proulx is a native of this State, The evergreen of the tassel represents the eternal life referred to in his motto.

The fleur-de~lis, a charge carried by the Kings of France and on the flag of the Province of Quebec, denotes the ancestry of Bishop Proulx.

The motto "Life In All Its Fullness" is taken from John 10:10. A motto briefly expresses an ideal, a program of life, and the spirit of the one who selects it.
