Escudo de ouro, uma aspa ( ou cruz de Santo André ) firmada, de azul, cantonada em chefe e nos flancos de uma andorinha de negro e prata, postas em banda e, em ponta, de uma mó de moinho de vermelho. Coroa mural de prata de três torres. Listel branco com a legenda a negro “ AVELEDA – VILA DO CONDE “.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 28, 2000.

The cross refers to St. Andrew, a popular saint in the parish. The swallows refer to the emigration from the parish, which has caused larges socio-economic problems. The millstone refers to the historical mills, which were of great importance for the local economy.
