The arms of Beckov are rather curious. They show an elephant with a castle. These probably developed by mistake. They are probably derived from the arms of the Bánffy family, who owned the local castle in the 15th century and had a bull in their arms. Somewhere in the 16th century the seal of the village had to be re-made and probably at the time the bull was seen as an elephant. Ever since the village has used the elephant as its arms. Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 15, 1995.
The arms of Beckov are rather curious. They show an elephant with a castle. These probably developed by mistake. They are probably derived from the arms of the Bánffy family, who owned the local castle in the 15th century and had a bull in their arms.
