The sun is a canting element, the name is supposedly derived from Belenus, the Germanic god of the sun. The crosier represents the monastery that was founded in the village in the 12<sup>th</sup> century. The arms are used since 1941.

The quartering symbolises the fact that Bellmund was one of the 12 quarters of the district Nidau. The sun is a canting element, the name is supposedly derived from Belenus, the Germanic god of the sun. The crosier represents the monastery that was founded in the village in the 12th century.
