Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on January 29, 1998 and before on December 29, 1994. The 1994 arms differ only in the crown, see above left.
The arms show a typical roadsign, as no where in Portugal so many road signs can be found.
The black cross is a symbol for the fact that the village has always been on the crossroads of different roads and trade routes in the region. Roads lead to Lisbon, Porto, Santarém, Coimbra and other areas of Portugal.
The green colour symbolises the agricultural character of the village and the base shows the Tejo (Tagus) river.
